Dr. Weiss joined the Texas Tech Atmospheric Science Group in Fall 2004, after receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma.  He currently serves as the Graduate Advisor for existing and prospective graduate students.

Dr. Weiss' primary research interests include severe storm dynamics and tornadogenesis, the initiation and sustenance of deep moist convection, particularly as related to High Plains drylines, and radar meteorology.  Dr. Weiss and colleagues at Texas Tech University use a number of computational and observational resources, such as the TTUKa mobile Doppler radars and StickNet observing platforms, to accomplish research objectives in these areas.
